Untitled (as yet) - John Kannenberg
I first encountered John Kannenberg at Stasisfield site, where he releases very interesting music. A lot of it is downloadable, just like on this site. Kannenberg presents his releases in a beautiful visual setting and I was therefore especially interesting in how the visuals translate into the audio. I wasn't disappointed and so invited John to submit something. I was rewarded with this request when I ordered the cd-r that John also lets out...

A2Z Blender [lm01] - Ios Smolders
All compositions concentrate on the use of the human voice. Some are remixes of exhibitions
Peetall - RMXS1 [lm03] - Peetall
Peetall sent us three remixes of old time favorites. With a little knowledge of music history you will find out what the originals are. For reasons we have to keep this in the dark. Consider it a quiz without physical prizes. Just pat yourself on the back. :) IN the meantime Peetall has also published rmxs2
Freiband -EARLabs [lm02] - Freiband
Freiband, aka Frans de Waard (GOEM, Kapotte Muziek, etc) remixed the A-Z Blender (LM01) using primarily Akira Rabelais' 'argeiphontes lyre'. All compositions are compressed to MP3 using variable bit rate (135 - 195kb/s).
Dale Lloyd - Enabling Articulate Fields [lm04] - Dale Lloyd
5 Pieces in line with what we can expect from this master of delicate thunder. Dale Lloyd gives us quite precise electronics interlaced with acoustic sources. Excellent electroacoustics from the USA. Composed for EARLabs in June, 2003, using field recordings and electronic embellishments from a Moog Concertmate MG-100 analog synthesizer. Some of the field sources were derived from air pressure moving the front door of my apartment during a very windy evening...

Formatt - Exemn [lm08] - Formatt
Peter Smeekens is of Belgian descent, combining small sounds into a tight weaving and fabricating them into potent tissue. For EARLabs he composed three excellent tracks of small, light weight sound sources. There is a fourth track, which is a computer remix/scramble of the three original compositions. Mind you: it can ony be played with winamp. Somehow all other applications fail to read the header file and turn this brilliant computer-Cage-composition into hideous Merzbow-muck.
Hinterlandt - The Office Week [lm07] - Hinterlandt
The title suggests something ominous, cinematic. And in a way it is. Listening to this music I see myself back in my first week at 'the office'. People all around looking self confident, minding their own business, now and again checking you out from behind their desks. German ozzie, Jochen Gutsch is a versatile composer, working in many different fields of the musical spectrum. He has a very rich history of funky grinding guitar music behind him...
Roel Meelkop - Ghost Tracks [lm06] - Roel Meelkop
Roel Meelkop learned the tricks of the trade while THU20 was still alive and kicking. But he also progressed in his solo works. He has been releasing a lot of music on cd, working solo, and in GOEM and Kapotte Muziek. We're proud to have him here at EARLabs with eight tracks that were originally commissioned by the International Film Festival Rotterdam, to be played unannounced before and after screenings of films in the festival program of 2003...

Testez votre chaine hi-fi avec Chenard Walcker - Chenard Walcker
Chenard Walcker was born and raised upon no secret formula but this one : Surrealist altruism. So, he became a cut and paste addict. He made his first steps in the visual field, but soon let aside photocollages to concentrate only on music. chenardwalcker.com has been online since march 2003 and presents a large selection of his work as a samplecore artist, whatever this might mean. All the music is available in both the Free Sample Zone and the Internet Archive...
